The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna

The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna was founded in 2013 to give homage to the less known and underestimated French composer Charles-Valentin Alkan, whose 200th birthday was celebrated in that year
(1813-2013).

The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna wants to encourage the knowledge of the polyphonic piano playing inspired by the romantic piano tradition.

Commitments:

Encouraging and supporting the interest and approach to the art of polyphonic piano playing focussing on the work of composer and pianist Charles-Valenting Alkan
Introducing the young pianists’ generation to the polyphonic playing as well as supporting young talented piano students
Contributing to the divulgement of the romantic-transcendental piano repertoire focussing on the composer C. V. Alkan and his contemporaries as Franz Liszt, Frédéric Chopin and other composers who pursued this piano tradition (by the rules of the Alkan Society Vienna 2014).
Our purpose:

Making accessible the quintessence of pianistic art by specific attention and dedication to the polyphonic and “ultra-polyphonic” piano playing.
